Monnet
School - Grade 1b
Observation: Week of January 29 - february 2
The Classroom rules are in the door.
These lessons have been about imagination, and music.
The students arrive early, and every time they arrive they greet everyone, and even inside the classroom, if someone arrives, they also greet the teacher who has entered. A song plays in the school, which signals to the students that it is time to start class or that class is over. In their free time, they can go wherever they want, but they must be in the classroom at class time (when the song plays).
On the other hand, if the students talk too much or have lost concentration, the teacher uses a technique, which is to sing a song, and they start singing along with the teacher, so that at the end, everyone keeps quiet and takes a seat. On the other hand, the students can leave to go to the bathroom, making a signal with their hands to avoid disturbing the teacher.
When giving the instructions, the teacher asks some students if they can repeat what is to be done, so when it seems that everyone has understood, they begin to work. However, when they need help, they raise their hands or go directly to the teacher. Some students also asked for more help. If students finish early, the teacher asks them to do other activities.
Reflection
Firstly, Established routines provide a clear structure for the school day, which helps students understand what to expect and how to organise themselves. This reduces anxiety and uncertainty, allowing students to focus on learning more effectively. Secondly, having classroom routines is beneficial because it provides structure, predictability, smooth transitions, independence, clear rules and efficiency in learning. Finally, classroom routines are fundamental to creating a positive and effective learning environment in which students can thrive academically and socially.
