Monnet School - Grade 1b
Observation: Week of February 19 - February 23
The teacher's voice is very gentle and neutral, she has a good voice modulation, as well as a goodintonation in her speech. The teacher asks each student something related to the activity. For each question she addresses the student by name. On the other hand, when the teacher asks open questions, the students who want to answer must raise their hands. When she talks to a single student, she does it in front of everyone, so everyone hears what the teacher says. Finally, I have noticed that the teacher always listens to everything her students have to say, which allows them to feel heard and comfortable. However, when students make mistakes in their answers, the teacher corrects them in a gentle way or asks the other students what would be the correct answer.

Teacher talk and student talk is essential as it allows students to ask questions, express doubts and receive direct feedback from the teacher. This promotes a deeper understanding of the topics and enhances the learning process. On the other hand, it builds trust because it helps to establish relationships of mutual confidence. Pupils feel more comfortable sharing their ideas, opinions and difficulties if they know that they will be listened to and respected. On the other hand, through individual conversations, the teacher can better understand each student's needs, interests and learning styles. This allows them to tailor their teaching and provide targeted interventions to maximise each student's academic progress and personal development. In conclusion, teacher-student conversations are essential to creating an effective, inclusive and nurturing learning environment in which students can grow academically and emotionally.
