Monnet School - Grade 1b
Microteaching: Week of March 11 - March 29
Why games?
I used the games as part of the microteaching because in my opinion they capture the attention of the students, they keep them interested throughout the session. I also believe that they generate intrinsic motivation, as they seek to win, which encourages their active participation. Secondly, I believe that games are a practical way of learning as students solve problems, and if the game is well developed, they can apply their knowledge in the context of the game. Finally, in my opinion, games or learning activities offer a number of benefits by motivating learners and helping them to retain information. It seems to me that if games are effectively integrated into the teaching-learning process, children will be more curious to learn the subject matter and more likely to remember what they have been taught.
REFLECTION
Throughout the micro-teaching I did with the children, I noticed that they had fun and that we created a bond between teacher-student, which allowed me to get to know them better and understand them so that I could teach them in the future. I also learned that you have to have patience and be very clear in the instructions of the games with the children, I could also notice that a very basic activity (like bingo, or dominoes), can help to reinforce their knowledge and help them remember the vocabulary they have learned. On the other hand, the games were not only played individually, they were also played in teams, which allowed them to get closer to their peers.
