3. OBSERVATION – CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

Monnet School - Grade 1b

Observation: Week of February 5 - February 9

The teacher has good control of the room, gives them the freedom to work and talk, but does not allow students' voices to be too loud or to yell.
Then a student is not paying attention, the teacher tells him/her to sit down or do as requested.  On the other hand, if the student is talking, the teacher lets him/her know that it is disrespectful and that everyone is waiting for his/her time to speak. Also, when students are sitting on the carpet and are moving around a lot or fidgeting, the teacher keeps quiet and explains how they should sit so they don't get tired. She sees that a group of students is talking, she asks them in an appropriate manner to change places.
Reflection

Proper classroom management is fundamental to creating an effective and positive learning environment.  First, a well-managed classroom environment provides students with the structure and space needed to concentrate on learning. Secondly, effective classroom management fosters respect between the teacher and the students, as well as among the students themselves. Also, by establishing clear rules and consequences for inappropriate behaviour, students are taught the importance of taking responsibility for their actions. This helps them to develop self-regulation skills and to understand how their decisions affect not only themselves, but also others in the classroom environment. Finally, a safe, inclusive and respectful environment promotes students' emotional well-being, which in turn can improve their motivation, self-esteem and willingness to learn. In conclusion, effective classroom management is essential to creating an educational environment that fosters meaningful learning, mutual respect and the emotional well-being of all involved. By setting clear expectations, providing appropriate support and cultivating positive relationships, teachers can help maximise each student's potential and create enriching educational experiences.

5. OBSERVATION - TEACHER TALK – STUDENT TALK

Monnet School - Grade 1b Observation: Week of February 19 - February 23 The teacher's voice is very gentle and neutral, she has a good voice modulation, as well as a goodintonation in her speech.  The teacher asks each student something related to the activity. For each question she addresses the student by name.  On the other hand, when the teacher asks open questions, the students who want to answer must raise their hands.  When she talks to a single student, she does it in front of everyone, so everyone hears what the teacher says.  Finally, I have noticed that the teacher always listens to everything her students have to say, which allows them to feel heard and comfortable. However, when students make mistakes in their answers, the teacher c...
