Microteaching

Monnet School - Grade 1b Microteaching: Week of March 11 -  March 2 9 Throughout my microteaching I noticed that I became more confident in front of the group. Despite  being a teacher, I was very nervous about teaching English, as it is not a language I speak as a native speaker. However, with the help of my mentor, who gave me tips on how to improve my microteaching (how to explain the material they were going to need, give feedback on the game, etc) I improved my way of interacting with the group as a teacher.  I did six microteaching sessions that took me 15 minutes.    My microteaching were food bingo, food memory, match food, food domino.  The objectives of these activities and the materials required are as follows :  1. Food Bingo-  I chose this game because it is an easy way to learn new vocabulary, as they see the picture and relate it to the word, they also hear how to pronounce it.   The objective of this game ...

7. OBSERVATION- ERROR MANEGMENT

Monnet School - Grade 1b Observation: Week of March 4 - March 8 The teacher has a good error manefment as she explains to them why they made a mistake, or makes them realise their mistakes.  In the classes I observed the teacher was teaching them about materials and when the students made mistakes about the name of the materials, the teacher would ask them again, or show them the material they mentioned so that the students would realise that it was not that name. Also the other students participated and said the correct material.  Reflection As a teacher, good error management with young learners is crucial because it promotes a safe and supportive learning environment, because when students feel it is not bad to make mistakes in the classroom, they feel more comfortable...

6. OBSERVATION - TEACHING MATERIALS

Monnet School - Grade 1b Observation: Week of February 29 - March 2 The teacher makes use of various didactic resources, very creative and colourful materials that promote the participation of the students.   Each class the teacher provides material related to the lesson. T hese lessons the teacher talked about products and materials, so she brought several things made of different materials and the pupils had to describe the qualities of the products.                                  R eflection It is crucial that teachers have access to good learning materials and know how to use them effectively, because well-designed learning materials facilitate understanding and learning for individual students and are adapted to meet the different needs and learning styles of students. And they can engage students' interest and motivate them to take an active part in the learning pr...

5. OBSERVATION - TEACHER TALK – STUDENT TALK

Monnet School - Grade 1b Observation: Week of February 19 - February 23 The teacher's voice is very gentle and neutral, she has a good voice modulation, as well as a goodintonation in her speech.  The teacher asks each student something related to the activity. For each question she addresses the student by name.  On the other hand, when the teacher asks open questions, the students who want to answer must raise their hands.  When she talks to a single student, she does it in front of everyone, so everyone hears what the teacher says.  Finally, I have noticed that the teacher always listens to everything her students have to say, which allows them to feel heard and comfortable. However, when students make mistakes in their answers, the teacher c...

4. OBSERVATION - INSTRUCTIONS

Monnet School - Grade 1b Observation: Week of February 12 - February 16 The teacher gives clear instructions to the students before doing the activity, then asks random students if they can repeat what needs to be done. Finally, she asks everyone if the instructions are clear.  If a pupil is confused, she asks the teacher and if she sees that someone has not understood, she approaches the teacher.  When I did a microteaching, the teacher explained to me that it is better to give the instructions, clarify what material will be used and then, when everything is clear, start the activity.                                     Reflection Clear and precise instructions help young learners to understand what is expected of them. This reduces confusion and anxiety and allows them to concentrate on the task at hand. If instructions are ambiguous or confu...
